D&D Great Lake Swimmers Lars Man Headache Holla Fest Fun Fort Whoa Pookie

Hey ladies and mens!

It's me, Sara.

Today I played D&D for the first time and it made me really happy.
I made a character who would be my best friend in the whole world if he existed, which he does. His name is Lars Redbeard The Hippie Viking Who Wears Golden Boots. He has a great big red beard that surrounds his head like a big beard is wont to do. He wears tye-dye footie pajammmz, and is a little bit chubs in the belly from eating so many woodland berries (actually he probably eats biscuits). He wears very nice golden boots that give off rays of awesome, and he also wears a little viking helmet atop his handsome head. He has two scimitars (+1) named Queen Bitch and Bobo, which he flies into rages with. He is mostly Druid (dirty hippie) but also partly Barbarian, so occasionally he gets really mad and fights people and turns into a bear. He is very shy and awkward, and usually apologizes after decimating people. He lives in a cave in the forest, and has a tree fort which is filled with persian rugs and silk pillows. He makes tea, brews, and serves it to guests in his fort. Lars also has a wolf who is currently nameless and very small. Said wolf rides around in a backpack on Lars' back, menacingly. Lars' best friend (besides me) is Moses Hogmuffin (Ruth), a very handsome young wizard who wears a multitude of sweaters and has a toad named Gran, who is very nice. Moses likes to ride in the backpack with nameless wolf because he is so little.

In other news, I am listening to Great Lake Swimmers (thank you Molly) and it makes me very happy in the brains.

Oh wait! More news! I have a headache. Oh wait, also I got some new shoes, but not the neon ones yet, those are still in the mail. These shoes are very nice ones that look like loafer things and only weigh .0004 ounces. It's pretty nice.

Also, Holla!

Also, I had a fort day the other day and it was really rather delicious!!!! Even though not all of you have the blog type things, I love you very much thank you for the snuggs and I'm glad I beat you in Star Wars Monopoly.

Hope all you fellers and ladies are having a really rather lovely winter break.

P.S. To be expected soonish hopefully would be drawings of Lars and Moses doing all sorts of lovely things.
P.P.S. I love you Ruth! Also, I miss you Gage!

James Jean

I love his sketchbooks of airport/airplane scenes, and the way he redraws faces to create awesome optical illusions.

Old Poem

grin at me with your honey-lemon smile,
my feet start sinking,
my head starts lifting.

body stretching that way this

thoughts turn to creme brulee
and maybe an old spoon to eat it with.

your honey-lemon smile,
makes me want a roadtrip, something
usually avoid.

wish I had the voice to speak out loud
had that soft sweet syrupy tenorbassharmony
in that voice box keyed
in the minormajor of D

thank you, honey-lemon

New Post, Old Photos

Here are some photos I took last year with my 35mm Nikon SLR. I think I used Fujicolor ISO 200, but I could be mistaken.

Happy Thanksgiving!
Photos of my feast and family to come.

Love, Sara

Something Everyone Should Consider.

Bip bip bip

It's sleeting outside, I went on a date and had a very nice time, and my toes are still cold.

I want to put up a photo of a drawing I did for Gage of a yeti, but I don't know that he scanned it yet.

I suppose I should work on my color journal.

Nov. 4 2008

Hearing our next President's speech last night inspired a pride in me that I have never before felt for this country. I can't even begin to describe how excited I am to be part of this huge community.

I think it should also be recognized that John McCain's speech was very gracious and sweet.

Amen, brotha.

That's right!

The above images I found at this pleasant website:

I also highly support your decision to visit this photography website:

Today is votin' day, so I hope to see everyone sporting an "I Voted" sticker!
I must say, the one disadvantage of absentee voting is the lack of stickers.

In other news, I'm doing well. I just had my advising meeting to register for classes, and it looks like I'm pretty much last on the list for registration. My time slot is the last one out of everybody at the school...
With luck I will get Gaunt for Drawing 1, and the Maurice Sendak class.

I've really been craving nature lately.

Sniffle nose, Cold fingers.

I'm listening to Sweet Road by Animal Collective, slouching and somewhat freezing my buns off in the College Center. It's Saturday evening, and I've barely accomplished anything. But that's nothing new.

Pretty much Charlotte thinks I need to blog more.

Something that is very important is this:
I want those shoes so badly that I know they will be mine. They are beautiful.

Also, I am drawing a really awesome fellow for Sarah J. I wish I could keep it for myself but I won't because that would be mean.

Still sick, hopefully not for much longer.

Dream, Oct. 17, 2008

I'm in the car with Karen and Sara; we are driving to our new apartment. We're in a very mountainous area, it reminds me of Aspen, CO. I whine because I think the apartment will be in the middle of the city surrounded by buildings. When we get to the apartment, it's really ugly and concrete, just a single plane of the same shade of concrete. It is reminiscent of a bomb shelter. It's sort of awkwardly perched on the side of a mountain with no visible way to get to it. Everything is really gravelly and gray.
All of a sudden we are at MCAD because Hilary has an exhibition. She has attached a bunch of random stuff to the walls in the main gallery and plays a tape recording of her coughing and blowing her nose. It repeats every 5 seconds.
Then we are back at the apartment and we are on the roof. It's very patchy looking with sections of brown and black and it looks very unstable. Sara runs out and starts jumping up and down and stomping and I get really freaked out because I'm scared that she's going to break the roof. It's really hot and dry outside. I finally convince Sara to come off of the roof and we climb down into the building on a very tiny staircase.
Then we're outside sitting on some rocks in the shade of the courtyard. We are surrounded by rocks and boulders. Everything is the same shade of light gray, including the apartment building. Sarah Julson is there with us. I look around and see some really amazing piles of rocks that are like sculptures. I mention that everything is really ugly. I look up and see this towering cliff right above us. It's very gravelly but has some grass on it. I am momentarily happy to see something green. We look out over the city and it looks really small. Someone says "I told you so" about not being surrounded by buildings.
Then we are inside our apartment. We have white curtains and there is a lot of light coming into the room. The walls are painted a very light "sea foam" type color. It feels like a sea-side cottage inside. Anna (my sister) is there, but she is a little boy (it's strange, I know in my dream that she is my sister, but she is a boy), complaining about something but I don't register what. We all go across the hallway to Carla's apartment (she is our R.A. somehow even though it's not a dorm). Carla's apartment is retro, with brown 70s shag carpeting and a bunch of knick knacks on the wall.
Then it's morning, we've spent the night at Carla's. Anna/boy has already gone back to our apartment and left her/his clothes at Carla's. I go back to tell Anna/boy this. She/he whines at me and tells me that she/he wants one of Carla's goldfish. Anna/boy carries water in her shirt to put the goldfish in. Carla and I put a goldfish in Anna's hands and she/he starts walking back to the apartment. Suddenly the fish leaps out and starts flopping around in the hallway on the carpet. I catch the fish and hold it tight in my hands. It squirms around in my hands trying to get loose. I run back into Carla's apartment, startling Carla who is on the phone with someone. I run to the vase where she keeps her three goldfish. The vase is really beautiful. It's light blue like sea glass, kind of large and urn shaped. I accidentally knock the lid into the water in the vase, (I remember in huge detail the vase, what the water did, and the fish), and put the fish back in. Carla runs over and I apologize for rushing in without knocking. She tells me I'm always welcome and that I don't need to knock.

Midnight bike rides, cookies and dance parties are beyond swell.

That is all.

Toot toot.=!

Saturday, October 11, 2008

It is Saturday.

I ffffound this image that is very representative of my life in general.

Listening to Peter Bjorn and John makes living quite pleasant this afternoon.

I think I might drink some juice.

In other news, friends are pretty great, especially when watching movies with such lovelies in them as John Cusack, Zach Braff, and Adrien Brody. What's not to love?

I have been writing lots of letters lately, which is swell, but my arm has really been hurting lately so I had to stop for a little while.

Just a little song for the afternoon:

Tooty toots toot
tititiiiti bibbibbi
pop pop pop pow
la la

Yours truly,

3 Pieces of Mint Mojito Gum

Finally watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
It was quite nice.

Oof, I could use a shoulder rub.

Oh, I should probably mention Charlotte.
