Charge your phone while you ride your bike!
"Imagine never having to plug your cellphone into the wall again! Now you can just plug it into your bike with Oscar L’Hermitte’s “Watts Maker” cell phone charger. The system consists of a small kinetic generator that provides power to your mobile phone while you take an evening ride around the neighborhood or pedal to work. This model takes about 90 minutes to go from dead to fully charged, and it produces energy as long as the wheels keep turning."

This makes me so happy! Now I want to get one of these AND bike lights. Though, bike lights are definitely higher on the priority list...

Blitzen Trapper

Dear Friends,
I apologize for two posts in one day, but this post is of the utmost importance.

Karen, Marissa, Emmy, Katelyn, and I went to see Blitzen Trapper at First Ave.

I thought I would have so much more to say about this, but for now, let me tell you, it was probably one of the best shows I've ever been to! It also contained the most belligerent drunks I've ever encountered at a show... but that's not the point.

My ears are still ringing, marvelously.

I have a headache, though it was 50x more than worth it.

Marissa and I counted 12 beards, 5 of them belonging to members of Blitzen Trapper.
(The drummer, who I need to look up [he is amazing], had the most glorious beard of the night.)
I'm sure there were tons more beards, but we were so wrapped up in the amazingness of tonight that we didn't really notice. Can you believe it?

Marissa and I just made a large amount of zines. At the concert, we decided we wanted very badly to give Blitzen Trapper one of them. Sadly, we had none. Heroically, Katelyn pulled her copy which we had given her earlier in the day out of her pocket, and lo! we had a zine! Marissa and I then proceeded to put the zine on the stage, where we think the blonde guitarist saw it. Cross your fingers in hopes that they got it!! It will make their night. After all, who doesn't love a collection of beardly viking poems!?

Yours,

Sara

P.S. If you want a zine, let me know and I will send one on your way, sealed with a kiss and a hug, and a bug.

Dear friends,

The next time you feel like being deep in thought, I highly suggest listening to the Gipsy Kings loudly. It is doubtless a very pleasing experience for both ears and mind.

In other news, I have been doing a lot of reflecting. I think my new year's resolution is to be a more aware, grounded, and thoughtful individual. Those qualities are ones that I find to be most inspiring in the people that I am friends with, and I hope to develop them further within myself (hopefully sooner than later...).

I've also been finding a lot of interesting papercut artwork. I think it fits with my detail oriented style, so I'm going to try and do some more research and hopefully do some experimenting in my free time (ha!).

Ruth has just informed me that Watchmen comes out while she is visiting, so we will all have to go to the midnight showing! Oh, it will be a gloriously busy weekend!

Sorry for the shoddy documentation, but here are three of my best in-class drawings from my Drawing 1 class:Planar Analysis/Charcoal

Wishing you the most wonderful of Wednesdays,

Sara

P.S. I am going to Blitzen Trapper tonight and it is going to be marvelous!

20 days

20 days 'til my Pip comes lollopin' to see me!

Anybody want to help me give Ruth a nice tour of some Minneapolis stuff? I was thinking bikes, brains, buns, boys, bridges, and Lake Calhoun.
I don't really know my way around the city because I am horribly inept at such things and have only been around in the dark. SO, if anyone wants to meet a crazy lady and have a certainly happy time, let me know because we want to explore lots.

Love,
Sara

P.S. Hey Ruth, can you talk to mi mommz and pick up my raccoon hat because I had to leave it behind and also my bandana which you have and if you don't bring it I will make you sleep in the bathtub.

Putting a little spring in my step.

Today's weather is making me happy.

I'd say it's time for a little bit o' this:

And a little bit o' this:

Followed by some:

(Which is funny, because I actually have that tea pot!)

And highly unlikely,

a little bit o' this:

(Yeah, that's right! Birds snugglin')

Happy Monday,

Yours,

Sara

beautiful warmies for your fancy.

Sorry for the slew of blog posts, but I have had this clipping from Dwell for a long time, and I just realized that I should probably share it and other wondrous things like it with all of you wonderful ladies and gents.
My friend Rachel cut this out of Dwell and gave this to me senior year, and I've cherished it ever since. It's well loved and is pinned to my wall. (Thanks Rachel...)

Some other wonderful things from the same designer (Vik Prjonsdottir):

[The Seal Pelt]

[The Twosome Blanket]

Go check out those warmies!

Also, I highly suggest reading the scandinavian myth posted there. There's been a movie made of it called The Secret of Roan Inish (much recommended to you by me!)

Love,

Sara

Just thought you should know...

Dear Friends,

Take note, I just named my bicycle 'Death and Glory and Blood Spurting All Over the Place'.
Call me if you want to take a bike ride with the baddest bootie in town.

Wishing you the happiest of sundays, the biggest of hugs, the warmest of warms.

Love,
Sara

For My Fellow Beard Lovers; a Treat.

Dearest friends,

Recently, a wondrous website chock full of witty and comical beards, not to mention interesting and thought-provoking illustrations (admittedly the main intent of the site), as well as humorous t-shirts (complete with the most fashionable and full facial hair) has come to my attention. Upon seeing the website for the first time, I was overcome with emotion and awe. As I felt my heart on the verge of explosion due to intense awesomeness, I had to look away in order to save myself and others in the room from horrible (yet amazing) death. I implore you, if you do nothing else today besides feed yourself and marry your buttocks to your couch, just visit this website. Please take any necessary precautions that will ensure your survival.

Wishing you all the best of Wednesdays,
